In his statement, US Vice President J.D. Vance outlined the features of the US position on the negotiations with Iran, stressing that Russia’s acquisition of enriched Iranian uranium “is not within US plans,” in reference to what is being circulated regarding possible arrangements for the enrichment file.
Vance stressed that “there is no trust in Iran until it signs the deal,” considering that “the extent of its actual desire to conclude an agreement will not be known until it is actually signed.” He added that Washington “received many papers from the Iranians, but it is still not clear what exactly they want,” pointing out that “the political leadership in Iran suffers from severe division, and its decisions are conflicting.”
The US Vice President confirmed that the US administration is “negotiating in good intentions,” calling on Tehran to “seize the available opportunity,” noting that Washington’s requests are “clear” and the Iranians have been informed of the “red lines.”
At the same time, Vance reiterated that his country “will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon,” adding that “there are two options before Iran: either an agreement or resumption of war.” He explained that the United States “can resume the military campaign against Iran at any time,” but stressed that “no one wants a return to war,” stressing that the president asked his team to “negotiate strongly and without making concessions.”
