US President Donald Trump escalated his tone towards Iran, declaring that Washington “will not allow Tehran to possess a nuclear weapon,” and stressing that the recent US strikes “achieved a wonderful victory” and caused great damage to Iranian capabilities.
Trump said in statements that the American B2 bombers “turned the Iranian uranium stockpile into dust,” adding: “We must go in and get the Iranian nuclear dust,” noting that the United States possesses “the equipment and capabilities to extract the Iranian uranium stockpile.”
He also considered that Iran is “in a state of extreme confusion,” claiming that more than 80% of its missile stock has expired, denying reports that Tehran retained a large percentage of its military capabilities, and describing the “New York Times” report in this regard as “high treason.”
Regarding the regional file, Trump said that Chinese President Xi Jinping “wants to open the Strait of Hormuz,” pointing out that there is “full consensus” between Washington and Beijing regarding Iran, and stressing that China considers opening the Strait a necessity because 40% of its trade passes through it.
Trump indicated that he may make a decision about lifting sanctions imposed on Chinese companies that buy Iranian oil, and he also revealed that he did not speak with the Chinese President about customs duties.
Regarding the negotiations, Trump said that he “threw away” the Iranian response after he did not like “its first sentence,” adding that the Americans are capable of “eliminating power plants in Iran in just two days.”
He continued: “I respect the Chinese President, and he defends his country just as we do,” stressing at the same time that “the last thing we need right now is war,” referring to the Taiwan file and the possibility of supplying it with weapons.
