The American ambassador to Tel Aviv, Mike Huckabee, revealed an “unprecedented” Israeli military step towards the Emirates, announcing that Israel had sent air defense batteries from the “Iron Dome” system to Abu Dhabi, along with specialized crews to help operate them.
Huckabee’s statements came during a conference held in Tel Aviv, where he praised the growing relations between Israel and the UAE since the signing of the “Abraham Accords,” saying: “I would like to address a word of appreciation to the United Arab Emirates, the first country to join the Abraham Accords.”
He added: “Just look at the benefits. Israel sent them batteries from the Iron Dome system, along with personnel to help operate them.”
This development comes in light of the escalation of regional tension between Iran and Israel, and increasing talk about security and military coordination between Tel Aviv and a number of Gulf countries, especially after reports of secret attacks targeting Iran, and mutual accusations of involvement in the ongoing confrontation in the region.
The announcement also coincides with growing fears of the expansion of the scope of the military confrontation, in light of repeated Iranian threats and American and Israeli military movements in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
