In a remarkable development in the line of undeclared communications between Washington and Tehran, the Iranian “Tasnim” agency revealed renewed American efforts to mediate with Iran through multiple channels, despite the public escalation in political discourse.

The agency quoted a source as saying that some members of the American negotiating team, in parallel with communication with Pakistan, began a few days ago to move through other countries to open mediation channels with Tehran, in an attempt to restart the diplomatic track.

The source pointed out that the US administration, despite the “military boasts” of US President Donald Trump, realizes that any military confrontation with Iran may lead to greater repercussions, considering that the military option “will not solve the crisis, but rather will increase its complexity.”

He added that this behavior reflects, according to his description, an American attempt to maintain an image of strength in public, in exchange for various movements behind the scenes, in light of the awareness of the limited military options.

On the other hand, the source stressed that Iran is “prepared for all scenarios,” stressing that Tehran does not show much confidence in these endeavors, and that its negotiating positions are still based on clear sovereign constants.

He also considered that Washington finds itself facing difficult choices, in light of the continuing tension and the decline in the effectiveness of pressure in achieving decisive results.

This development comes at a time when the Iranian file is witnessing an intersection between military escalation and political pressure, in exchange for attempts to revive negotiation channels, which reflects a delicate stage characterized by a dual path between confrontation and mediation.
