In a new indication of the progress of the negotiating track despite its complexities, media reports revealed a new Iranian proposal presented to the United States through Pakistani mediation, in an attempt to push the talks towards ending the war in the Middle East, amid mixed signals between progress and ambiguity.

Iranian official media reported that Tehran submitted, on Thursday night, a new proposal to Pakistan in its capacity as a mediator in the negotiations with Washington, without revealing its details. Axios also indicated that the proposal was transferred through Pakistani mediators to be presented to the American administration.

In parallel, CNN reported from Pakistani sources that Tehran presented a modified version of a previous offer, after the first version was rejected by US President Donald Trump, pointing out that there are indications of relative progress in the negotiations, despite the continued uncertainty surrounding their path.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Pakistan will remain the official mediator in these talks, while its spokesman, Ismail Baghaei, stressed that reaching quick results is unrealistic, indicating that the goal is to reach a path that guarantees a complete end to the threat of war.

On the other hand, Trump escalated his tone towards Tehran, considering that Iran “desires very much to conclude an agreement” but is negotiating from a position of weakness, noting that the imposed sanctions are “stifling the Iranian economy” and preventing it from achieving oil revenues. He also stressed that his country would not allow Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, stressing that Washington was determined to seize what he described as Iran’s “nuclear capabilities.”

This development comes in light of an extremely complex regional scene, where military pressures overlap with political paths, amid persistent international attempts to avoid the region sliding into a broader confrontation, at a time when negotiations remain hostage to delicate balances between escalation and calm.
