It was stated on the “Druze Today” website
From the heart of the unbreakable Ghouta of Damascus, and in the fields of Jaramana, Achrafieh, and Sahnaya, “Bani Marouf” yesterday wrote a renewed epic in the book of glory, dignity, and existence.
In memory of the sinful treachery that targeted our homes last year, these proud cities rose up – despite the social siege and the security grip – to send to the entire world a message stating: The collective Druze conscience does not succumb to injustice, nor does it relent in the face of the temptations of time. The regime delusively believed that the language of intimidation, its bet on numerical superiority, and blind takfiri campaigns would be able to bend people who were never accustomed to submission. It awakens a spirit of defiance that the country has not witnessed since the height of the Great Syrian Revolt against the French Mandate a century ago.
Our people’s throats have rang out with cries of dignity under the shadow of the fluttering “flags”—those that have never been raised out of aggression or aggression—confirming that the will of the free people is invincible to oppression. We are a sect that was born to love freedom, and our steadfastness today is the right stance in the face of attempts at subjugation. Our collective dignity is the “fever” without which lives are cut off, and our struggle to remain honorable is our destiny that we accept and are proud of.
As for those who shed the blood of our people in Ghouta, Al-Sura Al-Kabira, and Al-Buraq under the pretext of jealousy over religion, they revealed, through their injustice, a scandalous ignorance of the essence of the true religion. God Almighty affirmed in His decisive revelation: “Indeed, God does not like transgressors,” and He affirmed in another verse: “And God does not like wrongdoers.” The principle “There is no compulsion in religion” is the original constant, and the prophets of God were never among those who coerced people based on their belief. And here is the book that tells us the story of the Arab Prophet “Shuaib” (peace be upon him) when the arrogant people confronted him with the threat of forcibly returning him to their religion. His decisive response, which represents the essence of our faith, was: “He said, ‘Have we been averse?’” No coercion is permissible, and no religion is accepted under authority.
The Druze of Syria have made their choice to reject injustice, not only in defense of their existence and freedom, but also as a victory for a nation whose human dignity has been robbed. What is happening today is not just a passing cloud of protest, but rather a historical chapter written with ink. Freedom for us is not just a demand, but rather the essence of existence and the compass of life.
