Reliable sources revealed to CNN that US Vice President J.D. Vance is preparing to take the lead in a possible second round of dialogue with officials from the Iranian side, if an agreement is reached to hold a new meeting between the two parties.
According to what was stated in the report, it is expected that US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, in addition to Jared Kushner, will participate in any upcoming negotiations, who have played a role in diplomatic communications since before the outbreak of the war.
Sources report that the administration of US President Donald Trump has entrusted this team with the task of searching for a diplomatic solution to the crisis, as Vance, Witkoff, and Kushner continue to communicate with the Iranian side and with mediators during the past few days, after a round of intense negotiations that lasted for 21 hours.
While the details of the second round are still unclear, some reports stated that Washington is holding internal discussions about the necessary arrangements for holding a new meeting, with no official confirmation yet regarding its date or actual holding. An American official was quoted as saying: “Future talks are under discussion, but no date has been set yet.”
These developments come in light of American expectations of the possibility of a new diplomatic move in the coming days in Pakistan, amid efforts aimed at bringing the concerned parties back to the dialogue table, while the fate of the ceasefire remains dependent on the results of the currently ongoing contacts.
