Ongoing: An American official clarifies Trump’s position on the 45-day truce

In the midst of an ongoing military escalation and increasing threats, CNN reported that US President Donald Trump has not yet agreed to a proposal for a 45-day ceasefire, explaining that this proposal is one of several ideas under study.

The network quoted a White House official confirming that Trump has not given the green light to this proposal yet, while stressing that the American military operation in Iran is still continuing at an accelerated pace.

CNN reported that the mediators’ proposal regarding Iran represents a last-ditch attempt to avoid large-scale attacks that could target Iranian power plants and other infrastructure, if an agreement is not reached.

These developments come in light of a noticeable increase in the American tone, as sources revealed to the Wall Street Journal earlier that there is a list of joint goals between the United States and Israel aimed at weakening the Iranian economy and obstructing any efforts to revive it.

The newspaper quoted an Israeli official as saying that Tel Aviv is awaiting the start signal from Washington to target Iranian energy facilities, which may directly affect oil and gas production.

In an interview with the newspaper, US President Donald Trump threatened to strike all bridges and power stations in Iran, considering that the extent of the destruction might make reconstruction take “20 years, if they are lucky.”

According to the report, targeting Iranian economic infrastructure represents a further escalation in the conflict that has been ongoing for five weeks, through which Washington seeks to force Tehran to back down from disrupting shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

The report also indicated that the attacks have intensified over the past few days to include major steel and petrochemical factories, in addition to targeting a strategic bridge, in a message described as a prelude to transforming the conflict into a war of economic attrition.

In a previous post on the “Truth Social” platform, Trump set a date for a possible strike, threatening “hell” awaiting Tehran if an agreement was not reached within the specified deadline.
