Raghad Saddam Hussein expresses her happiness at the release of Hannibal Gaddafi and hopes for his return to his homeland
Raghad Saddam Hussein, the daughter of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, commented on the judicial decision to release Hannibal Gaddafi, the son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, on bail, while keeping him under a travel ban in the case of the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr in Libya.
Raghad Saddam Hussein said in a post on her official account via the “X” platform on Friday evening: “Praise be to God for the safety of the dear brother Hannibal Gaddafi, and we ask God to complete his return to his land and homeland in the near future.”
She added, “To be the opening of good and blessing for him and his honorable family, and the beginning of a new page carrying reconciliation and good for Libya and its good people.”
She attached her post with a picture of Hannibal Gaddafi.
Judge Zaher Hamadeh, the judicial investigator in the case of the kidnapping and disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his companions, agreed on Friday to release Hannibal Gaddafi on bail of $11 million, with a travel ban.
Hannibal Gaddafi’s lawyer had submitted a memorandum in mid-August requesting his release, as he has been detained in Lebanon since 2015.
Hannibal Gaddafi faces charges of withholding information regarding the fate of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his companions, who disappeared in Libya in 1978 after arriving in Tripoli at the invitation of Muammar Gaddafi.
