أمر نتنياهو بتعليق فتح معبر رفح “إلى أجل غير مسمى”.

The reopening of the Rafah crossing is conditional on Hamas’s cooperation regarding the hostages and agreed-upon understandings, amid international calls to reopen it in light of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The suspension of the opening of the Rafah border crossing has been announced based on issued instructions, until further notice.

It was reported that the reopening of the crossing will be subject to an assessment based on the extent of Hamas’s commitment to handing over the remains of deceased hostages and fully implementing the terms of the agreements concluded.

This decision comes after a previous announcement about the imminent reopening of the crossing, which would have allowed Palestinians residing in Egypt to return to the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, sources indicated preparations for opening the crossing in coordination with the Egyptian authorities, provided that crossing would be limited to individuals without allowing the entry of humanitarian aid.

Calls are increasing from the United Nations and international relief organizations to reopen the Rafah crossing, given the difficult humanitarian conditions facing the Gaza Strip.

The Rafah crossing is a major lifeline linking Gaza to the outside world, and its reopening is vital to alleviating the severity of the worsening humanitarian crisis in the sector.
