India on buying Russian oil: the priority is the interest of the Indian consumer
India said on Thursday that discussions are taking place with the United States about enhancing cooperation in the field of energy between the two countries, hours after US President Donald Trump said that India pledged to stop buying oil from Russia, according to Reuters.

In response to Trump, the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that India has a firm priority to protect the interests of the Indian consumer in light of the fluctuations in the energy market.

She added that ensuring stable energy prices and securing supplies are two main goals.
