The statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry under the title “Efforts to Stop Genocide in Gaza” stated that Iran supports any move that leads to the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the entry of humanitarian aid, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the realization of the basic rights of the Palestinian people.
The statement indicated that, during the past two years, Tehran has used all its diplomatic energies through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations to put pressure on Israel and its allies to stop the aggression against Gaza.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry also stressed the responsibility of the international community in confronting what it described as Israel’s repeated violations of international law, calling for caution against Tel Aviv’s attempts to circumvent pledges and agreements.
Tehran stressed that stopping crimes does not relieve the international community of its legal and humanitarian responsibility to pursue the perpetrators of what it described as “war crimes and genocide,” calling for an end to the policy of impunity that it says Israel has enjoyed for decades.
The ministry concluded its statement by emphasizing Iran’s continued support for the Palestinian resistance, and continuing its efforts to “achieve justice and end the occupation,” as it put it.
