Signs of anger over the continued Iranian attacks and the repercussions of regional escalation are increasing in the Gulf countries, amid a growing feeling that the countries of the region are now directly bearing the cost of the continued launching of missiles and drones, at a time when confidence in the possibility of reaching stable understandings with Tehran is declining.
According to a report by journalist Spier Lipkin on the Israeli “N12” website, a diplomatic source in the Gulf states said, following the Iranian attack that targeted Kuwait during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, that a shift began to appear in the way of dealing with Iran.
The source said: “There has been a certain change in the position towards Iran. Patience towards Tehran is eroding, and confidence in the ability to reach understandings with it is fading, at a time when the Gulf states find themselves paying the price for the continued launching of missiles and drones and regional escalation.
This position, according to what was stated in the report, reflects a growing state of frustration in the Gulf countries over the continuation of Iranian attacks, especially after their repercussions began to directly affect the countries of the region.
However, the source stressed that the Gulf states have not yet adopted a unified position regarding the method that should be adopted in dealing with Tehran.
He said: “There is no agreement on a single solution.”
He added: “While some countries continue to search for a way to calm down and reach a settlement, other countries are moving more and more towards losing confidence in the possibility of reaching a solution with Iran.”
The source also expressed pessimism about the chances of reaching stable understandings with Tehran, considering that previous experiences did not give the desired results.
He said: “The attempts that were made to reach understandings with Iran did not lead to a stable solution in the long term, and in the end they did not prove themselves.”
Thus, the Gulf positions reveal a gradual shift in mood towards Iran, without yet reaching a unified position, while the continued escalation and its field tests become an additional factor in eroding trust between Tehran and the countries of the region.
