According to Counterpoint Research data, the iPhone 17 accounted for about 6% of total global smartphone sales during the period from April to June 2026, maintaining first place for the second quarter in a row.
Apple’s success was not limited to the basic version of the iPhone 17, as the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro came in second and third place, respectively, giving the company complete control over the top three positions. The company was also able to enter five phones into the top ten best-selling list, including the iPhone 17e and iPhone 16.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra achieved a remarkable achievement by ranking fourth globally, advancing five places compared to the performance of the previous generation. It became the best-selling phone among Android devices during the second quarter, in a precedent that reflects the growing demand for high-end phones. The S26 Ultra also accounted for more than half of the Galaxy S26 series sales during the same period.
The launch of the series at a different date than the previous generation, along with features such as the privacy screen and improved artificial intelligence technologies, helped enhance the phone’s performance, according to Counterpoint Research.
The list of the ten best-selling phones witnessed complete dominance by Apple and Samsung, with each company obtaining five places. Together, the ten phones accounted for 26% of total smartphone sales globally. (Erm News)
