Google has begun rolling out a new feature in the “Android 17” system that aims to reduce motion sickness and nausea when using the phone inside the car, similar to the “Motion Cues” feature that Apple introduced for iPhones in 2024.
The feature is called “Motion Assist,” and it relies on the phone’s sensors to monitor the car’s movement and display moving dots at the edges of the screen that change according to the direction of movement. These indicators aim to reduce the discrepancy between what the eye sees on the fixed screen and the movement felt by the inner ear, which is one of the causes of motion sickness.

According to reports, “Motion Assist” has begun to be gradually rolled out to some Pixel phones running the “Android 17” system, and will later expand to other devices.
The feature provides a built-in solution for Android users who previously relied on third-party apps to get similar motion indicators.
