Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed that Iran is not currently conducting any negotiations with the United States, noting that mediators are still making efforts to reopen negotiating channels between the two sides, at a time when Tehran is adhering to its conditions before any return to the negotiating table.
Araqchi said, in a statement to reporters on Sunday, that “the mediators are still trying to find ways to resume negotiations,” stressing that his country will not agree to resume them before addressing what it considers American violations of the memorandum of understanding.
He added that returning to negotiations, from Iran’s point of view, remains impossible unless these violations stop and their consequences are addressed or compensated.
In a related context, Araqchi stressed that his country “will not forget and will not forgive” what he described as “the blood that was shed unjustly,” in reference to the martyrdom of former Iranian leader Ali Khamenei during the recent war between Iran, the United States, and Israel.
Araqchi’s statements came during a ceremony entitled “Muharram and Ashura in the Mirror of Foreign Ministry Documents,” where he stressed that Iran will continue what he described as the “resistance approach,” stressing that his country will not allow that blood to be forgotten or ignored.
He added that Iranian officials are adhering to the covenant they made towards Khamenei, considering that this forms part of the political and security path pursued by the Islamic Republic.
