New data reveals that there are preparations within the Syrian security establishment to deal with the “Hezbollah” file in Lebanon, despite the official position of Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, who announced his rejection of US President Donald Trump’s proposal to move against the party inside Lebanese territory.
According to a report by journalist Roi Kayes in the Israeli “Kan”, the Syrian security services are preparing for the possibility of involvement in the “Hezbollah” file in Lebanon, while a Syrian security source affiliated with the authorities confirmed that plans are being prepared behind the scenes to deal with the party, to be implemented when necessary.
The source said, “There is a gap between what is said in public and what is happening behind the scenes,” noting that the instructions issued to the upper levels of the Syrian security establishment require “moving against any presence of Hezbollah on Syrian territory and thwarting it.”
He added that these plans are being prepared, despite President Ahmed Al-Sharaa officially announcing his rejection of US President Donald Trump’s proposal to move against “Hezbollah” inside the neighboring country.
This comes at a time when Trump has recently repeated more than once that the Syrian president is the most appropriate party to deal with Hezbollah in Lebanon rather than the Israeli army.
This discrepancy between the declared positions and what is said to be happening within the Syrian security institutions, according to the report, reflects the extent of the complications surrounding the “Hezbollah” file in the next stage, in light of the rapid transformations taking place in the region.
