The head of the Economic Department in the South, Engineer Maysaa Hadraj, accompanied by a team of the Department’s observers and with the support of members of the Internal Security Forces in the Tire Platoon and the Camps Police Department, visited the municipalities of Burj al-Shamali and Tire, at the signal of the Public Prosecutor in the South, Judge Zaher Hamadeh, and under the directives of the Director-General of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Dr. Muhammad Abu Haidar.

The visit aimed to hold a meeting with the owners of private electric generators, in the presence of the heads of municipalities and electricity committees, within the framework of following up on the implementation of the mechanism for installing meters instead of the circuit breaker system, in accordance with the memorandum of the Minister of Economy, Dr. Amer Al-Bassat, and in line with Cabinet Circular No. 31/2025. After deliberation and discussion, the attendees issued the following statement:

First: It was agreed to transfer the remainder of the subscriptions approved by the breaker system (the lump sum subscription) to the meter system, including residential units, elevators, and common areas, in accordance with written pledges by the generator owners, with a time limit not exceeding one month from its date to implement this.

Second: Generator owners are obligated to apply the official tariff issued by the Ministry of Energy and Water, and adhere to all relevant legal and regulatory provisions.

Third: The Ministry of Economy and the Electricity Committee in each of the municipalities of Tire call on citizens, in the event that any violation of the provisions of Law No. 31/2025 or non-compliance with the official tariff is detected, to inform the Ministry of Economy through the MOET Digital Services application, to take the necessary legal measures against the violators. Noting that detailed data in this regard have been issued by the concerned municipalities.
