A rock concert in Germany witnessed an unusual moment imposed by the unprecedented heat wave hitting Europe, after Canadian singer Jordan Miller was forced to take off her dress on stage and continue singing in her underwear, in a scene that sparked widespread interaction and division on social networking sites.
The incident occurred during the participation of the Canadian rock band The Beaches at the Hurricane Festival in Germany, where Miller was performing her song in a tight dress, while temperatures in parts of Europe reached about 40 degrees Celsius, amid difficult conditions on open stages due to the heat, intense lighting, and crowding of the audience.
During the performance of one of the songs, Miller took off her dress on stage and completed the concert wearing her underwear, without stopping the singing or interrupting the show.
The band later posted the video clip on its Instagram account, accompanied by a comment that said: “The heat wave was so intense that she had to take off the dress in the middle of the song.”
The report indicated that the audience at the concert site received the scene enthusiastically, but reactions on social media were mixed. Some commentators considered that what happened had nothing to do with music, as one of them wrote: “With all respect, what is the purpose of this? And what is its relationship to music?”, while others saw that the behavior was exaggerated, especially since it took place in front of a festival audience.
On the other hand, many defended the singer, considering that male singers have been accustomed to taking off their shirts on stage for years without this causing the same controversy. One follower wrote: “This is no different than wearing a swimsuit,” while another commented: “Instead of criticizing her, perhaps it would be more appropriate to praise that she avoided heatstroke.”
