Abu El-Ela said in a statement published by the Egyptian Football Association through its account on the “X” platform, that the medical examinations that Salah underwent showed that he suffered a strain in the posterior muscle, after he felt pain during the match with Iran, which forced the technical staff to replace him. He added that the player has already begun implementing his treatment and rehabilitation programme.
Salah was injured during the draw match between Egypt and Iran (1-1), at dawn on Saturday, at the end of the group stage within the seventh group in the 2026 World Cup.
The Egyptian team was able to reach the qualifying rounds for the first time in its history, after finishing the group stage in second place with 5 points.
The “Pharaohs” are preparing to face Australia in Dallas, next Friday evening, in the round of 32 of the tournament.
