On Tuesday, the US Senate narrowly defeated the latest attempt led by Democrats to stop the war on Iran until Congress authorizes it, which is the ninth attempt initiated by Democrats since Israel and the United States launched their air attacks on Iran in February.
The Senate rejected the resolution under the War Powers Act, by 48 votes to 47 in favor, following a framework agreement announced by the White House and Tehran this week for a new ceasefire and talks aimed at ending the conflict.
In a related context, the Saudi Council of Ministers welcomed reaching an agreement between Iran and America to end military operations.
The vote was largely on a partisan basis, with 4 Republicans voting with most Democrats in favor of the resolution, while Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania voted against it, along with most Republicans.
