Within the framework of the Ministry of Energy and Water’s efforts to reform the electricity sector in Lebanon and improve the reality of the distribution sector through the involvement of the private sector, the Minister of Energy and Water, Joe Al-Saddi, sponsored a workshop prepared and implemented by the “World Bank” to present a study it conducted in keeping with the Electricity Regulatory Authority and the Electricité du Liban.

Al-Saddi stressed “the importance of this file within the framework of implementing Electricity Law 462.”

Consultants from the World Bank – May International Energy Consulting Company presented a medium-term plan to develop the distribution sector and implementation mechanisms in accordance with Law 462, the implementation of which is among the priorities of the Ministry of Energy and Water.

For his part, the representative of the World Bank in the energy sector in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, Muhammad Qamh, affirmed, “The World Bank’s support for reform efforts in the energy sector, which is aimed at improving the services provided to citizens, the competitiveness of the Lebanese economy, and creating job opportunities.”
