A training plane belonging to the Egyptian Academy of Aviation Sciences crashed inside 6th of October Airport, killing a pilot and injuring a trainee.

The Egyptian authorities reported that the accident occurred during a training flight, as the plane lost control before falling inside the airport, resulting in the immediate death of the pilot, while the trainee was injured and taken to the hospital to receive treatment.

Consequently, the Minister of Civil Aviation, Dr. Sameh Al-Hafni, issued directives to open an immediate and comprehensive investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident. He also assigned the Central Administration for Aviation Accidents to undertake the investigation and conduct a review of all technical and administrative procedures related to the incident.

Al-Hafni stressed the need to provide full medical care for the injured trainee, and to continuously monitor her health condition, in addition to providing her with the necessary psychological support.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation affirmed its commitment to applying the highest international air safety standards, indicating that it will take the necessary measures based on the results of the investigation, in a way that strengthens the air safety and security system at airports and training academies.
