Trump explained, in an interview with the American channel “NBC” broadcast on Sunday, saying: “Right now, when there are good reports, the market goes down because they think they will raise interest rates,” according to Bloomberg News, and Trump added: “There is no reason to raise interest rates.”
His statements came at a time when the US jobs report, issued yesterday, Friday, recorded employment growth during the month of May that exceeded all expectations, which led to a wave of selling of US Treasury bonds, and prompted traders to fully price according to the possibility of raising the Federal Reserve’s base interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point by the end of the current year.
