The Iranian Revolutionary Guard denied responsibility for targeting the passenger lounge at Kuwait International Airport, saying that the damage to the building may have been caused by falling missile debris or the failure of air defense systems to intercept air targets.
The Revolutionary Guard said, in a statement, that its investigations showed that Iranian forces did not fire any missile towards the passenger lounge at Kuwait Airport, indicating that the recorded damage is not linked to any direct targeting by Iran.
The Iranian position came hours after the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Kuwait announced that the passenger building at Kuwait International Airport was attacked by Iranian drones and missiles, which led to one death, dozens of injuries, and major damage to a number of airport facilities.
The Kuwaiti authorities explained that they activated the emergency plan and suspended all flights, and a number of flights were diverted to alternative airports in order to preserve the safety of travelers and workers.
On the other hand, the US Central Command (Centcom) announced that it had succeeded in confronting a wave of Iranian attacks targeting countries in the region, stressing that Iranian missiles and drones were unable to hit their targets.
Centcom also indicated that strikes were carried out targeting an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island, in response to the attacks attributed to Tehran.
The Revolutionary Guard had previously announced that it had targeted an American base in the region and the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain with missiles and drones, in response to what it described as an American attack on Iranian facilities, while the American leadership denied the validity of this story.
