The Deputy Governor of Al-Hasakah, Ahmed Al-Hilali, announced the release of 28 fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as part of following up on the implementation of the January 29 agreement, noting that the number of those released so far has exceeded 1,200 people.

Al-Hilali explained that the competent government authorities are committed to ending the file of all detainees included in the agreement, stressing that this file, along with the file of displaced persons, is treated as a humanitarian file that is not subject to negotiation.

He pointed out, according to what was reported by the Al-Hasakah Media Directorate, that the delay in releasing some individual cases is due to the presence of other legal issues that are not related to affiliation with the SDF, stressing that these files are being dealt with through the approved legal paths.

He pointed out that the next stage will witness further positive acceleration in the integration process, in reference to the completion of implementation of the terms of the agreement concluded between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces.

On January 29, the Syrian government announced that it had reached an agreement with the SDF stipulating a ceasefire and the start of a gradual process of merging the military and administrative forces, in addition to the entry of security forces into the centers of the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli, and the state handing over civil and governmental institutions, crossings and ports, according to what SANA reported.

The new release comes within the framework of the ongoing implementation steps of the agreement, which constitutes one of the most prominent paths proposed to re-extend the authority of the Syrian state over the northeastern regions of the country.
