The Catalan newspaper “Sport” revealed that Real Madrid contacted Chelsea to discuss the possibility of signing Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez, as part of the club’s plan to strengthen the midfield.

According to the newspaper, Real Madrid believes that Enzo represents an important option to address the shortage in the midfield, thanks to his ability to manage the game and develop attacks.

“Sport” explained that Chelsea is asking for 140 million euros to release the player, which makes the deal difficult from a financial standpoint.

She added that Florentino Perez, despite his preoccupation with the presidential election period, did not stop planning sports, as the club is working to strengthen its ranks after resolving the file of the new coach Jose Mourinho and renewing Antonio Rudiger’s contract, with Rodri and Enzo Fernandez among the names proposed.

The newspaper indicated that Enzo wants to leave Chelsea after the team failed to qualify for any European competition, while Real Madrid is communicating with his agent, Javier Pastore.

But “Sport” stressed that completing the deal will not be easy, due to the large value demanded by Chelsea, in addition to the English club’s belief that its new coach, Xabi Alonso, is able to convince the player to remain within his project.
