Today, Damascus witnessed an explosion targeting a car near the Armaments Department of the Syrian Ministry of Defense, resulting in one dead person and 4 wounded, according to a preliminary toll, according to what Syrian media reported.

SANA reported in brief news that an explosion was heard in the capital, Damascus, before later sources confirmed that the explosion was caused by an explosive device planted inside a car.

Reuters quoted a military source as saying that the explosive device targeted the Armament Management Center of the Syrian Ministry of Defense in Damascus.

The Syrian authorities have not yet issued additional details about the nature of the explosion or the possible party behind it, while the security forces imposed a cordon around the targeted place.

This development comes in light of the security tension witnessed in Syria in recent months, with repeated assassinations and explosions in a number of regions, coinciding with the continuation of security and military operations against armed groups in more than one governorate.

The explosion also comes amid escalating regional tension and increasing security pressures related to the ongoing war in the region, which raises the level of concern about the expansion of unrest within Syrian territory.

Initial information indicated that the explosive device was planted inside a car parked near the targeted site, while ambulance and civil defense teams rushed to transport the injured, and security forces imposed strict measures in the area.
