Meta announced the launch of a new set of features for its Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses, including making the feature of writing via hand gestures available to all users, in addition to new features for video recording, simultaneous translation, and expanding application support.

The new feature allows the user to write messages without having to touch the phone. It relies on the neural bracelet attached to the glasses, which interprets hand and finger movements to turn them into commands for writing texts.

The feature supports WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram applications, in addition to other messaging applications on Android and iOS.

Meta had first reviewed this technology when announcing the glasses, but it was not available at the official launch.

Last January, the company began testing it in a limited way through the pilot program for the WhatsApp and Messenger applications.

The glasses also offer a new feature called “Display Recording,” which allows recording video clips that combine what appears on the lens screen and what the user sees in the real world, in addition to ambient sounds, in a hybrid photography experience that combines augmented reality with traditional content.

In return, Meta has expanded support for the live walking directions feature to include all parts of the United States, in addition to major international cities such as London, Paris, and Rome.

The company added the instant text translation feature to WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger applications, in addition to voice messages in private messages via Instagram.

In a move targeting developers, “Meta” opened the preview program for developing applications for glasses, while allowing the development of web applications directly, which paves the way for expanding the application system for smart glasses in the future. (aitnews)
