Apple is preparing to rearrange its priorities in the wearable devices market, with reports indicating that the Apple Vision Pro eyeglasses project has been temporarily suspended, in exchange for accelerating work on new smart glasses to compete with the “Meta.” Vision Pro decline and a new focus
After more than two years of launch without achieving wide spread – as a result of the high price of $ 3,499, along with limited content – it seems that Apple has decided to put the project on the sidelines temporarily.

Despite the possibility of launching an improved version in the future, the company’s current focus is on developing a new generation of smart glasses, with expectations of launching the first versions early next year, according to a report published by the “Phonearena” website.

A fictional feature that sparks controversy
According to recent leaks, the upcoming “Apple” glasses may come with a hand gesture reading feature, allowing users to control the device without touching, through simple movements.

Information indicates that the glasses will contain two cameras: the first for taking photos and recording video, and the second dedicated to analyzing hand movements and executing commands.

This idea is not entirely new, as Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses provide support for gestures, but through a special neural bracelet that accurately reads muscle signals.

Significant technical challenges
But implementing this feature through only one camera raises many doubts, especially since devices like the Apple Vision Pro rely on a complex set of cameras and sensors to track finger movement with high accuracy.

In this context, technical journalist Mark Gorman expressed his reservations about these allegations, considering that implementing this technology in the proposed manner seems unrealistic at the present time.

Doubts also affected other reports that talked about the possibility of supporting gestures in future versions of AirPods equipped with cameras, an idea that is still subject to great controversy.

Between ambition and reality
Observers believe that Apple may prefer to rely on voice commands rather than risk immature technology, in order to preserve the quality of the user experience that distinguishes its products.

In the absence of previous confirmed leaks about this feature, the idea – although attractive – seems closer to ambition than reality.

However, the smart glasses market remains awaiting real competition, especially in light of the rapid “Meta” movements, which may push “Apple” to present unexpected surprises, even if they seem “too good to be true.”
