Thirty-two days after the outbreak of war between Iran, Israel and the United States, the city of Isfahan was subjected to violent attacks, in light of the continuous escalation of tensions on various fronts.
On Tuesday, the United States bombed a huge ammunition depot in Isfahan, in the center of the country, using a large quantity of armor-piercing shells weighing 2,000 pounds, an American official said.
The official explained that an untitled video clip posted by US President Donald Trump on his Truth Social account showed a series of explosions lighting up the night sky, documenting the strike, according to what the Wall Street Journal reported.
In addition, explosions were heard in the vicinity of Shiraz Airport, in the southwest of the country, as well as in the Ahvaz region.
In Tehran, a power outage was reported in some areas of the capital after several explosions were heard, according to the Fars News Agency, which explained that electricity was cut off for some residents in eastern Tehran, and that the authorities are working to restore it.
On the other hand, Al Arabiya reported that a missile was intercepted in Jerusalem and another fell in an open area, after hearing at least 10 explosions in the sky of the city.
The Israeli army announced that it was working to intercept missiles launched from Iran, saying in a statement via Telegram: “The army detected missiles launched from Iran towards Israel, and defense systems worked to intercept this threat.”
Tehran had previously announced the launch of missiles towards Israel, according to what was reported by Iranian official television.
Isfahan is considered an important industrial center in Iran, especially in the steel industry, as it includes the “Mubarakeh Steel” complex, in addition to the military, petrochemical, and aviation industries. It is also located near important nuclear facilities, including the Natanz uranium enrichment facility.
Since the start of the war on February 28, US forces have carried out strikes on more than 11,000 targets, focusing largely on sites that weaken Iran’s offensive capabilities.
Israeli raids also targeted more than 14,000 sites and targets.
On the other hand, the Iranian side launched thousands of missiles and drones towards Israel and the Gulf states, but the air defenses were able to intercept most of them.
Tehran closed the vital Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of global oil and gas shipments pass, leading to a rise in oil prices, while Trump threatened to wipe out Iran’s capabilities if it does not open this waterway and move toward an agreement.
