In her comment on the latest developments, Ella Wawiyeh, spokeswoman for the Israeli army, posted on her account on the “X” platform, saying: “The funny and crying irony is that the one who has been raising the slogan of the road to Jerusalem for years is the same one today who is directing missiles of hatred towards its heart.”
She continued, saying: “The mullahs’ missiles target the holy sites, while their mouthpieces are busy accusing those who protect Jerusalem and preserve its sanctity,” calling for “investigation of the event.”
She also confirmed in her post that “Jerusalem will remain here, steadfast, proud, and raising the white and blue flag,” describing it as “the city of all heavenly religions and the home of everyone that does not bow to threats.”
Wawiyya concluded by saying that the city “will remain alive and welcoming to all who come to it in peace, but whoever chooses the language of fire will burn with his illusions before his missiles reach our sanctities,” this is what was stated in the post.
It is noteworthy that this statement comes in light of the military escalation between Iran and Israel, which in recent weeks has witnessed direct mutual attacks, targeting of military installations and infrastructure, in addition to the launching of long-range missiles and drones towards various destinations.
Since the beginning of the recent confrontation, Israel announced the implementation of large-scale operations inside Iranian territory, while Tehran responded by launching missiles targeting military sites, in an unprecedented escalation in terms of its announcement and the extent of the operations. In parallel, the situation witnessed tensions around Jerusalem, and fears increased that the scope of the conflict would expand to include other areas in the region.
