Golf star Tiger Woods is involved in a car accident in Florida

ABC News reported, citing the local police chief’s office, that golf star, former world number one, Tiger Woods, was involved in a car rollover accident in Florida on Friday afternoon.

The network explained that the condition of the 50-year-old player, who has won 15 major championship titles, was not immediately clear.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Reuters also contacted the player’s agent, but did not receive an immediate response.

It is noteworthy that Woods was involved in a serious car accident in February 2021, which resulted in him suffering serious fractures in his right leg.

The veteran player’s injury history spans more than two decades, and includes several surgeries to remove a lumbar disc, reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament, ruptures of the Achilles tendon, in addition to various procedures on the spine, and chronic problems in the left knee, which are injuries that have greatly limited his participation in competitive matches in recent years.

Woods recently returned to competition to lead Jupiter Links Golf Club in the final of the Indoor Golf League, a modern league founded by Woods and Rory McIlroy, last Tuesday, in his first appearance since his exit from the 2024 British Open.

The American player has not yet confirmed whether he intends to participate in this year’s Masters Championship, which begins next April 9 in Augusta.
