
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the conclusion of a military cooperation agreement between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during his visit to Jeddah and his meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
In a statement published on his social media accounts, Zelensky stated that this agreement was concluded between the Ministries of Defense of the two countries, and aims to lay the foundations for future defense cooperation, including military deals, cooperation in the field of technology, and investment, in addition to supporting Ukraine’s position at the international level in the field of security.
He stressed that his country is “ready to share its expertise and defense systems with the Kingdom,” stressing the importance of joint work to protect lives, in light of the increasing security challenges.
He also noted that Ukraine has been suffering from missile and drone attacks for years, considering that this type of danger is also repeated in the Middle East region, which increases the importance of defense cooperation between the two parties.
He added that Saudi Arabia has distinct capabilities that arouse the interest of the Ukrainian side, which makes this cooperation mutual and serves the interests of both parties.
In a related context, the two parties discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, most notably the military escalation in the Middle East, in addition to the latest developments in the Ukrainian crisis, changes in energy markets, and opportunities for cooperation in this field.
For its part, the Saudi Press Agency reported that the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them, in addition to discussing the most important regional and international issues of common interest.
