In light of the difficulties facing the first football team, Mahmoud Al-Khatib, president of the Egyptian Al-Ahly Club, announced that he was officially relinquishing responsibility for supervising the football file.
Al-Ahly fans express their deep dissatisfaction with the deterioration of the team’s level, despite the important contracts that were made during the summer and winter transfer periods.
Despite these supports, the team lost the Egyptian Cup championship early by losing to a second-tier team, and also failed to qualify from the group stage of the Egyptian Capital Cup.
However, the biggest disappointment for the “Red Giant” supporters was exclusion from the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, after defeating Esperance of Tunisia in the first leg with a score of 0-1, and then receiving another defeat in the return match with a score of 2-3, in an unprecedented result in the club’s history.
Al-Khatib officially withdraws
Al-Ahly Club announced that the Board of Directors officially approved the authorization of Yassin Mansour, Vice President of the Club, and Sayed Abdel Hafeez, Member of the Board of Directors, to supervise the football sector.
Al-Ahly Club issued a statement saying: “At the request of Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the club’s president, the Board of Directors agreed at its meeting today to assign Yassin Mansour, Vice President, and Sayed Abdel Hafeez, a member of the Board, to the task of general supervision of football affairs.”
Al-Ahly Club confirmed in its statement that “Yassin Mansour” and “Sayed Abdel Hafeez” will be granted all necessary powers, with full support provided to them by the Board of Directors.
