The National Litani River Authority issued the following statement:
The National Litani River Authority is informed that it has been forced to completely stop the “Ibrahim Abdel-Al” hydroelectric plant, which currently produces about 4 megawatts, for two days, starting on the morning of Tuesday, March 24, due to a sudden malfunction in the main sugar of Group No. (1).
This stoppage comes to enable technicians to carry out the necessary maintenance work, which requires stopping the plant completely and emptying the pressurized pipes, in order to ensure the safety of the equipment and ensure the quality of the repair work.
On the other hand, the authority confirms that the “Arqash” and “Helou” plants will continue their electrical production as usual, thanks to the comprehensive management of water resources from the Mashghara River, Ain Zarqa, and the springs of the “Abdel Al-Anan” tunnel, in addition to the Jezzine Falls and the Bisri River.
The authority adds that during the suspension period, water coming from the upper basin of the Litani River will be stored in Lake Qaraoun, in preparation for later use in increasing hydroelectric power production once operation resumes.
