Litani Department: Increase in hydroelectric power production to reach 78 megawatts

The National Litani River Authority issued a statement revealing the volume of production of its hydroelectric stations for today. The utility reported that the total registered production capacity reached 78 megawatts, distributed among the three stations as follows:

John’s plant: 44 MW.

Initial plant: 30 megawatts.

Abdel-Al plant: 4 megawatts.

The authority attributed this level of production to the recent heavy rains, which contributed significantly to improving the amounts of water flowing into the basin. As a result, the stations were able to operate within the permissible operational limits, with an emphasis on continuing the sustainable management of the water reserves in Lake Qaraoun.

The authority confirmed that it “continues to operate its facilities in accordance with precise technical standards, ensuring the maximum benefit from available water resources for the production of clean energy, while maintaining a balance between energy production requirements and the necessities of water management for irrigation and other vital uses.”

At the conclusion of the statement, the utility stressed that it devotes all its energies to serving public facilities, within the limits of currently available water capabilities, with the aim of supporting the continuity of electrical energy supply and enhancing water security in Lebanon.
