After canceling the match that was supposed to bring together the “Tango Dancers” in Spain, the Mauritanian Football Federation announced its agreement to hold a friendly match between its senior national team and Argentina in Buenos Aires next Friday.
Spain, the European champion, was supposed to meet Argentina, the Copa America champion, next Friday in Qatar in the final of the Finalsima Cup, but the European Football Association (UEFA) decided last Sunday to cancel the match due to the war in the Middle East, due to not reaching an agreement with the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) and the Argentine Football Association.
The Mauritanian Federation issued a statement last Friday through its account on the “X” platform, saying: “Al-Mourabitoun (the Mauritanian national team) will face the world champion Argentina in a friendly international match to be held in Buenos Aires on March 27.”
It is noteworthy that Mauritania was preparing to face the Palestine national team in Morocco during the same period, but the latter apologized for playing the match as a result of the ongoing conflict in the region and the difficulties facing travel.
After the match with Mauritania, Argentina will host Guatemala on March 31 as part of its preparations to defend its title in the 2026 World Cup.
