Denial: The Port of Beirut is ready to face the current challenges

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Beirut and its General Manager, Marwan Al-Nafi, announced his full readiness to face the current circumstances. He explained that an emergency committee had been activated inside the port since the beginning of the “Israeli attacks on Lebanon,” which includes various security services and concerned departments, with the aim of ensuring the continuation of operations and securing the necessary supply lines for the national economy. He stressed that the port works around the clock to facilitate the movement of goods, with full support from customs.

Al-Nafi pointed out that the port received a total of 69 ships during the last period, and more than 36,000 containers loaded with foodstuffs, medicines, and equipment were handled, in addition to exporting about 10,000 containers. He also pointed out that the customs inspection rate increased by 35% compared to “the same period last year.”

He also mentioned that the port receives thousands of tons of basic materials, including livestock, wheat, potatoes, corn, and oils. He stressed that the main focus is on ensuring business continuity and meeting market needs under “exceptional circumstances.”
