A leaked recording reveals details of Mojtaba Khamenei’s survival from an assassination attempt

The British newspaper “Daily Telegraph” revealed an audio recording containing horrific details about an attempt to assassinate Mojtaba Khamenei in the first hours of the war. Mojtaba Khamenei miraculously survived an Israeli strike, after going out to the courtyard of the house a few moments before the bombing.

The newspaper reported that Mojtaba Khamenei was a main target in the raid that targeted the residence of his father, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, on the morning of February 28. This strike resulted in the killing of Khamenei Sr. and a number of senior officials in the Iranian leadership.

According to the audio recording, the bombing occurred at 9:32 a.m. Iranian time. At this moment, Mojtaba Khamenei had just gone out into the courtyard “to do something,” before returning to the building. Information indicates that the missile hit the building specifically while he was climbing the stairs, which allowed him to narrowly escape the explosion.

According to the newspaper, the audio recording belongs to Mazhar Hosseini, head of the Protocol Department in the office of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who directed it to prominent clerics and leaders in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The newspaper confirmed that it was able to independently verify the authenticity of the recording.

Hosseini reveals in the recording that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in the leg during the bombing, while his wife, son, and son-in-law were killed in the same attack. He also mentions that Mohammad Shirazi, the head of Khamenei’s military office, was killed, and describes the scene by saying that his body was “broken into pieces,” leaving only “a few kilograms of flesh” to identify him.

Hosseini says in the recording: “It was God’s will for Mojtaba to go out into the courtyard to do something and then come back. He was outside, and when he started to climb the stairs, the missile hit the building. His wife, Mrs. Haddad, was killed on the spot.”

Since the beginning of the war, Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has not appeared in public on any occasion, and was content with sending a written message that was broadcast on Iranian television, which sparked widespread speculation about his health condition.

Even US President Donald Trump hinted in previous statements that Mojtaba Khamenei’s injury may be more serious than what Tehran officially announces, in light of the ambiguity surrounding his situation since the strike that targeted the Iranian leadership headquarters at the beginning of the war.
