The Kuwait Football Association announced a correspondence with the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and the Minister of Information and Culture, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, regarding reactivating sports activities in the country. The Federation affirmed its full commitment to the instructions issued by higher authorities, and its keenness to preserve the safety of all members of the sports system.
This comes after the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee’s decision to suspend all competitions and sporting events as a precautionary measure, given the tense security situation in the region.
The Federation explained in an official statement issued on Friday that the resumption of competitions will take place in accordance with specific preventive measures, the most important of which is holding matches without an audience, in order to preserve the safety of players, technical, administrative and medical crews, in addition to all club workers.
The Federation’s Board of Directors also affirmed its full support for the decisions of the political leadership in Kuwait, stressing that the public interest and community safety remain the top priorities in all decisions related to sports activities.
The Federation announced that it has set the second of next April as the initial date for the return of local competitions, noting that the clubs will begin training a week before this date, according to what will be decided by the competent authorities.
The Federation confirmed that the current football season will be completed in full, and that no matches or tournaments under its umbrella will be cancelled, pointing out that it has prepared a comprehensive schedule with new dates for the remaining matches in the various competitions.
