Agriculture warns: strict measures against monopoly practices to protect consumers from high prices

The Ministry of Agriculture announced in an official statement that the irrational increases witnessed in the prices of some types of vegetables, fruits and agricultural products in the markets are not proportional to the size of the actual supply, and are not based on any justifications related to production or market movement.

The Ministry confirmed the availability of sufficient quantities of major crops, noting that imports are available to cover market needs and ensure the continued flow of goods. The Ministry called on all parties concerned in supply operations to adhere to reasonable prices and avoid unjustified increases, and urged consumers not to be led by exaggerated prices that exceed normal limits, while considering the “guiding price” announced by the Ministry as the decisive factor in achieving a balance between supporting farmers and protecting the rights of consumers.

In conclusion, the Ministry confirmed that it is continuously monitoring market conditions in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Trade, stressing that it will take all necessary measures and firmly against any monopolistic practices or illegal speculation operations aimed at artificially manipulating prices.
