The head of the Federation of Tourist Syndicates and the head of the Syndicate of Hotel Owners, Pierre Achcar, praised the current ski season, noting that the abundance of snow had a positive impact on tourism and contributed to improving the economic situation in the mountainous regions.
Al-Ashqar stated in his statement that the Lebanese are the largest segment of visitors to ski resorts, but their visits often take place on the weekend, from Friday evening to Sunday, while the influx of foreign tourists was a major support for the season. In this regard, he revealed the arrival of tourists from “Kuwait”, “Qatar”, “Egypt”, “Syria” and “Jordan”, which raised the levels of demand and reservations.
Al-Ashqar believed that the renewal of storms this week will help support the season and prolong its duration, noting that there are reservations for participation in skiing activities ranging between 15 and 20 days, which allows tourist facilities to achieve high occupancy rates for a long period.
Regarding the hotel occupancy rate, he stated that the rate in Beirut is still at a moderate level, while it increases significantly in ski areas, due to the small number of available rooms compared to the volume of demand, which leads to a high occupancy rate.
Al-Ashqar concluded by stressing that it is expected to benefit from reservations for the holiday period, especially with expectations that the season will continue until the end of March, pointing out that ice-making machines in turn contribute to maintaining the continuity of the season and enhancing its stability.
