Al-Ahly of Egypt escalates the crisis in the Royal Army match and addresses CAF

The Egyptian Al-Ahly Club issued an official statement announcing its move towards the Confederation of African Football (CAF), in response to the complaint submitted by the Royal Moroccan Army Club regarding the events that accompanied their last match.

Al-Ahly club management confirmed its categorical rejection of the content of the Moroccan complaint, stressing that all organizational and logistical arrangements that preceded and accompanied the match were made in accordance with the standards and regulations applied in African championships. The administration explained that it possesses evidence and documents that refute any allegations related to harassment or abuses suffered by the visiting team.

In a related context, Al-Ahly Club sent an official letter to “CAF” that includes a detailed explanation of the situation, and demands that the club’s rights be protected and that the facts be clarified to the sporting public. The speech stressed Al-Ahly’s permanent commitment to providing all means of comfort to the competing teams, based on the principle of sportsmanship and the strong relations between Arab and African clubs.

Sports circles are awaiting the decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the African Union after examining the memoranda of both parties, amid anticipation of the outcome of the crisis that has emerged on the continental football scene, at a time when the two teams are seeking to focus on completing their journey in the tournament.
