This type of food may increase the risk of breast cancer

A recent study showed a possible link between diets that increase inflammation in the body and an increased risk of breast cancer in women.

This conclusion was reached after a comprehensive analysis of nutritional and health data from a large number of women from different countries, based on 19 major papers focused on the relationship between diet and health in general.

Nutritional inflammatory index

The researchers used the so-called “Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII), which is a measuring tool that determines the extent to which diet increases or reduces inflammation in the body.

Anti-inflammatory foods include vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats, while diets that promote inflammation consist of processed meats, sugars, and ultra-processed foods.

The results showed that women with high scores on the “Dietary Inflammation Index” were at a significantly higher risk of developing breast cancer. In some research, their risk was nearly double that of women who ate more balanced diets.
