Lebanese Information Minister Paul Morcos announced that the Lebanese government is ruling out the option of war to respond to Israeli attacks, stressing that the state is striving to maintain stability and avoid entering into a new armed conflict.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Morcos stated that the ongoing Israeli violations impede the implementation of the government’s plan aimed at imposing state control and a monopoly on arms, noting that these violations impede the implementation of the path that the government has set for itself.
Morcos stressed the government’s commitment to the ministerial statement, especially with regard to implementing the rule of law and consolidating the principle of exclusivity of weapons in the hands of the state, explaining that this option represents the core of the government’s policy at the current stage.
He also added that the Lebanese state attaches utmost importance to maintaining internal stability, and seeks by all means to avoid any deterioration towards a new war, given the sensitive circumstances the country is going through.
