On Monday, the Iranian ISNA news agency revealed possible new details regarding the upcoming Iranian-American dialogues, including the names of potential participants and proposed locations for holding the meetings.
According to the agency, the negotiating teams from Iran and the United States are expected to hold talks during the next few days. She indicated that if they are held, as is usual, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff will lead these talks.
In return, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi will be accompanied by a delegation of diplomats, including Majid Takht Ravanchi and Kazem Gharibabadi.
Sources expected, given Araghchi’s recent visit to Turkey on Friday, and the efforts made by Ankara to host the meetings, that the consultations would take place on Turkish soil, with the possibility of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan participating in these talks.
Regarding the potential hosting location, the agency stated that research is still underway on the names of other countries in the region to host these meetings.
In a related context, Iranian media reported on Monday that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had ordered the start of talks with the United States regarding the Iranian nuclear program, according to what was reported by Agence France-Presse.
For its part, Tasnim Agency reported that negotiations between Iran and the United States are expected to begin in the coming days, in the presence of senior officials from both sides. An informed source told the agency, “Until now, the exact place and time for the meeting have not been determined, but it is likely that the negotiations will be at the level of Araqchi and Witkoff.”
In parallel, two high-ranking Israeli officials reported that US envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to visit Israel, to hold meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli army commander.
This comes in light of the escalation of regional tensions with Iran, and at a time when the administration of US President Donald Trump is moving forward with its plan to end the war on Gaza.
