Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin are witnessing stable and warm weather, with temperatures higher than seasonal averages, and active winds. This stability will continue until Monday evening, when the region is expected to be affected by a rapid and influential air depression, which will lead to a noticeable drop in temperature and heavy rain, with snowfall that may reach an altitude of 1,400 meters. This effect will continue until Wednesday morning.
In this context, the head of the Surface Estimates Department at the Meteorological Department at Beirut Airport, Muhammad Kanj, confirmed in a statement to: “The weather today, Saturday, is partly cloudy to cloudy, with high clouds and a noticeable rise in temperatures.”
He pointed out that “the temperature today is 23 degrees Celsius, while tomorrow, Sunday, it may reach about 26 degrees in the city of Beirut, that is, about 6 degrees higher than the seasonal average for the month of February, which is very remarkable.”
But King explained, “This rise will not last long, as we will notice a gradual decline starting Monday, especially in the afternoon, as the weather becomes more humid and ready for rain, with rain starting in the evening on the Lebanese coast, and perhaps before noon in the northern regions.”
He added, “The rain will be light on Monday, while it is expected to intensify on Tuesday, with snow falling at heights above 1,400 meters above sea level, and perhaps at lower altitudes in the northern regions.”
He pointed out that “the depression will be rapid and effective on Tuesday, accompanied by a clear decline in temperatures to return to below their normal levels, and will begin to gradually recede on Wednesday morning.”
He also revealed “the possibility of light rain this evening, especially in the northern regions.”
King concluded his speech by emphasizing that “a state of air stability is likely to prevail again starting Saturday, February 7, with the possibility that Lebanon will be affected by subsequent depressions, but it is too early to say for sure, as the month of February is not stable.”
