Tripoli Municipality issues clarification after controversy over cracked buildings

The Municipality of Tripoli issued a press release to clarify the truth about what is being published in some media and social media about buildings that are allegedly on the verge of collapse, as well as what is being circulated about unorganized evacuations. The municipality confirmed that this information is incorrect and misleading, and aims to spread fear and anxiety among citizens without justification.

The municipality indicated that the decision to evacuate any building is made only after conducting a comprehensive field and technical examination by specialized engineers, in cooperation with the Engineers Syndicate, and based on official and documented reports, and in accordance with applicable legal procedures.

The municipality confirmed that its police does not evacuate any building independently, but is committed to implementing the decisions issued by the municipality only, in cases where it is proven that there is a real and direct danger to the safety of residents or to public safety.

The municipality explained that in this context, the “Municipal Police” informs the governor to request support from the “Internal Security Forces” to accompany the implementation of the necessary measures.

The municipality called on the media and activists to exercise professional and national responsibility, verify the accuracy of information before publishing it, and avoid circulating unconfirmed news or exaggerating the description of events.

In conclusion, the municipality confirmed that the only source of correct and reliable information on this subject is the official data issued by the “Tripoli Municipality.”
