After the controversy over Trump's hand bruise... the White House explains its cause

Sky News Arabia

The appearance of a clear blue bruise on the hand of US President Donald Trump has raised new questions about his health condition, coinciding with his commemoration this week of the first anniversary of his return to the White House, on an occasion characterized by a festive atmosphere and high confidence on his part.

Circulating pictures showed President Trump suffering from a bruise on his left hand, extending from the knuckle of the middle finger to the base of the thumb, which reopened the door to controversy regarding its causes.

In this context, White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said that the bruise resulted from the president’s hand hitting the table.

Levitt had explained on previous occasions that the bruises appearing on Trump’s hand are due to tissue strain as a result of repeated handshakes, but observers pointed out that the injured hand is not the hand he usually uses in handshakes.

In a related context, it was reported that Trump takes a daily dose of aspirin, which may increase the likelihood of bruising.

The Mirror newspaper also quoted a pharmacist and health expert, Thoron Govind, as saying that aging may be an influential factor in this context, explaining that the skin becomes more fragile with age. She added that the skin loses part of the protective fats that protect the blood vessels, making the capillaries more susceptible to damage, so that even minor traumas can lead to visible bruises, especially in the hands and arms.

Govind pointed out that in most cases the matter is not serious, but the recurrence of bruises or their appearance without a clear reason requires a medical examination.
